Farm is a 120 acre farm located in Southwest Iowa since 1892.
Four generations of our family have raised row crops, alfalfa
and our family farm has seen dairy cattle, swine, Polled
Hereford cattle, show lambs and now Classic Shetland ponies for the
last sixteen years.
Our father,
Eldon, started in the pony business in 1995 following a life
full of teaching, coaching athletics and farming. He
started in the business by acquiring the Cody and Hillswicke
Oracle foundation bloodlines from Vern Benna. After a few
years in the breeding business he was attracted to the Classic
pintos and the Red Rock bloodlines bred by John Vriezelarr.
He spent 16 years breeding, raising, marketing and promoting top
quality Classic Shetlands. He believed in breeding a
versatile pony that would not only excel in the show-ring or
breeding program, but also thrive as a riding, driving and
family pony.
After our
father's passing in June of 2011, Rod and Mike formed a
partnership to continue to breed and raise top quality Classic
Shetlands, but we had to operate on a smaller scale. We
decided to focus the majority of our breeding program around a
few top mare lines specifically from our Red Rock line. We
also wanted to keep a few mares from the Cody, Hillswicke Oracle
and Royal bloodlines. It's not about quantity, it's all
about quality. We still have the same goals as our father,
we just want to raise the bar and breed a higher quality Classic
Shetland that is demanded by all pony enthusiasts.
We always enjoy having visitors at our farm, but please email
or call us to arrange a time. We are located 10 minutes west of
Council Bluffs, Iowa. |
